Lindsey Wilson College Honors Students, Administrator who 'Live, Learn, Lead'

Top Leadership Awards go to Caitlin Higdon '25 of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Mia Weigel '25 of Danville, Kentucky, and Reilly Wells '26 of Columbia.

COLUMBIA, Ky. (04/22/2025) — Leadership -- in all of its forms, expressions, styles and lessons -- was in the spotlight Monday, April 21, at Lindsey Wilson College.

The 17th edition of the Lindsey Wilson L3 Student Leadership Banquet honored 10 undergraduates and one college administrator for their influential and effective leadership during the 2024-25 school year.

"These people embody the Lindsey Wilson mission in their daily work and service on campus and throughout the community," Dean of Students Chris Schmidt told the audience in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.

L3 -- which stands for live, learn and lead -- recognizes Lindsey Wilson students and employees who Schmidt said "exemplify the spirit to live, learn and lead every single day."

"These students consistently stretch themselves mentally, physically and spiritually to realize their full potential," said Schmidt.

In his keynote address, business leader Kyle Edwards '06 said that "the essence of leadership boils down to a fundamental act -- stepping up and tackling what needs to be done, no matter how challenging."

"But leadership's true power lies in that crucial next step -- the conscious effort to collaborate with others, to nurture their potential, and to empower them on their own leadership journeys," said Edwards, who is president of Edwards Managed Technology Computer Consulting in Louisville, Kentucky.

Edwards told the audience that "sometimes being a leader is admitting you don't know everything." Edwards sponsors an intern program at his company, which he said has taught him valuable business and leadership lessons.

"I also find that it is mutually beneficial, as I often learn from these students as much as they learn from me," he said.

Receiving the L3 awards were:

* Caitlin Higdon '25, a biology and psychophysiology double major from Elizabethtown, Kentucky;

* Mia Weigel '25, a human services and counseling and psychology double major from Danville, Kentucky;
