Lindsey Wilson University Katie A. Murrell Library to Offer Snacks During Campus Chats
Inaugural 'SnackChat' on Sept. 29 to feature communication professor Zachary Isaacs on mindfulness techniques.
COLUMBIA, Ky. (09/25/2026) — The staff of Lindsey Wilson University's Katie A. Murrell Library is offering patrons some great snacks this fall.
The first kind of snacks will be for the body, and the second kind of snacks will be for the mind.
Beginning Sept. 29, "SnackChat" will feature a Lindsey Wilson faculty or staff member speaking about or demonstrating a subject that interests them.
The first serving of "SnackChat" will feature communication professor Zachary Isaacs, who will discuss mindfulness techniques. Isaacs will speak at 2 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the Thomas D. Clark Reading Room of the Murrell Library.
"SnackChat" is free and open to the public, and it will include light snacks and refreshments.
Topics featured at a "SnackChat" may or may not be part of the speaker's discipline or work, according to Assistant Director of Library Services Gregory Blair, who created the program with Public Services Librarian Erin Wolford.
Blair said the Murrell Library staff hopes to serve up two or three "SnackChat" helpings a semester.
"We're excited to offer patrons another event in which they can engage with each other while also learning something new," said Blair. "It's another reminder that the Katie Murrell Library is more than just a place for books -- we are also a place of community, and we want to serve our community to the best of our ability."
Isaacs said that his Sept. 29 presentation will be focused on giving techniques to practice mindfulness.
"I will go over numerous different breathing techniques to help calm the nervous system," said Isaacs. "I will also discuss different grounding techniques for when we might not feel fully present in ourselves. Finally, I will overview a couple of techniques when people are feeling anxious and/or scared. All of these techniques can be applied to your work, personal life or even sports."
