Lindsey Wilson University's Davontaye Saunders Sets Touchdown Record, but Blue Raiders Fall to Georgetown in Overtime
Senior running back from Eminence, Kentucky, records program-best 49th career touchdown.
COLUMBIA, Ky. (10/11/2026) — Lindsey Wilson University running back Davontaye Saunders made Blue Raider football history, but it was not enough for No. 11 Lindsey Wilson as the Blue Raiders were upset 24-21 in overtime by No. 22 Georgetown (Kentucky) College on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Parnell Family Stadium.
Lindsey Wilson fell to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-South Conference. Georgetown improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the MSC.
Saunders, a senior from Eminence, Kentucky, crossed the goal line with 2:54 left in the third quarter to give the Blue Raiders a 20-13 lead over the visiting Tigers. It was Saunders' 49th career touchdown as a Blue Raider, the most in program history.
For the game, Saunders carried the ball 28 times for a game-high 102 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Tate Rice of Manchester, Kentucky, with 28 seconds left in the first half.
Saunders now has 39 career rushing touchdowns, two shy of the program record.
Lindsey Wilson's next game is on Oct. 24 at Andrew (Georgia) College. The Blue Raiders' next game at Parnell Family Stadium is their home finale on Nov. 7 against Bethel (Tennessee) University.
