COLUMBIA, Ky. (12/04/2025) — The academic accomplishments of 13 Lindsey Wilson University students in the discipline of communication were celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the university's chapter of Lambda Pi Eta.

The 13 students were inducted into the LWU Xi Psi chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association's official honor society at four-year colleges and universities.

Communication students invited to join Lambda Pi Eta must rank in the top 35% of their class, with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average through 60 hours. They must also complete at least 12 credit hours in communication courses with a minimum 3.25 GPA in communication classes.

Founded in 1985, Lambda Pi Eta symbolizes the three modes of persuasion that Aristotle wrote about in his book Rhetoric: logos, or logic (Lambda); pathos, or emotion (Pi); and ethos, or credibility (Eta). LWU's Xi Psi chapter was established in 2002.

At the Dec. 3 induction ceremony, held in the J.L. Turner Leadership Center, keynote speaker Makayla Wright '24 of Campbellsville, Kentucky, reminded the inductees and current chapter members that their course of study "is truly a cornerstone and building block of everything."

"It is such an interesting field because we are intertwined with everything," said Wright, who is a part-time instructor in LWU's communication program.

Wright, who was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta when she was a Lindsey Wilson undergraduate, also told the students that communication can reveal a great deal about a person.

"It is essentially who we are, not only psychologically, but sociologically as well," she said.

In addition to inducting 13 new members, the LWU chapter also elected officers for the 2025-26 school year. David Requejo Hernandez '26 of Villamayor, Spain, who is a double major in business administration with a concentration in marketing, was elected chapter president; and Natalie Wilson '27 of Somerset, Kentucky, was elected vice president.
