3 Lindsey Wilson University Honors Students Discuss Their Research at Statewide Meeting

COLUMBIA, Ky. (02/25/2026) — Three Lindsey Wilson University seniors recently discussed their deep dives into three areas of research.

The students took part in the Kentucky Honors Roundtable, held Feb. 20-21 at Northern Kentucky University. More than 100 students from Kentucky colleges and universities participated in the academic event.

The event, which is held twice a year, features research work by undergraduate college students from honors programs at 15 Kentucky's colleges and universities.

Representing the Lindsey Wilson R.V. Bennett Honors Program were Emma Couch '27 of London, Kentucky, Zach Hite '26 of Hodgenville, Kentucky, and Yesh Singayao '26 of Vine Grove, Kentucky.

"As always, I am so proud of our students," said Lindsey Wilson psychology professor Jordan Greenburg, who is also assistant director of the R.V. Bennett Honors Program. "They are poised, professional, and are always able to showcase their expertise. Another faculty member mentioned how he kept having to remind himself that he was at an undergraduate conference."

A double major in psychology and Spanish, Couch presented "Lady Gaga and a Marxist Feminist Interpretation of Sex Work in Western Society," which looks at the pop star's song "Government Hooker" and sex workers.

An engineering mechanics major, Hite presented "In Sickness and In Health," which looked at how the English village of Eyam stopped the spread of the bubonic plague by taking certain actions from 1665-66 and juxtaposed it against the more recent pandemics of the Spanish Flu and COVID-19 viruses.

A political science major, Singayao presented "On Earth as it is in Heaven: The Synthesis of Christian Belief and Socialist Theory in Western Europe." His research examined how some Christian and socialist groups in Europe influenced one another as a result of rapid economic changes and social revolutions that occurred from the late-17th century to the late-20th century.
