On the game’s first play from scrimmage, Lindsey Wilson University junior running back Davontaye Saunders of Eminence, Kentucky, streaked through the Cumberland (Tennessee) University defense for a 73-yard touchdown run. Saunders ran for a 69-yard touchdown on the Blue Raiders’ next play from scrimmage. He finished the game with three touchdowns and a school single-game record 299 rushing yards. Saunders also set the Blue Raiders’ single-season record for rushing yards with 1,440 yards on the season with one more regular-season game to play.
