Lindsey Wilson University Fall Chapel Schedule Focuses on Callings

'Chapel reminds you that you are a human being before a human doing.'

COLUMBIA, Ky. (08/26/2026) — Lindsey Wilson University Chaplain the Rev. Tyler Brumfield hopes that everyone will take advantage of the fall semester chapel schedule, which gives individuals a weekly opportunity to reflect, relax and recharge.

"Chapel reminds you that you are a human being before a human doing," said Brumfield.

Beginning Sept. 2, weekly chapel will be held 11 times this semester, concluding with "Songs and Scriptures of Christmas" on Dec. 2.

With the exception of Church-University Celebration Day on Sept. 23, weekly chapel will be held at 10:45 a.m. CT on Wednesday in the historic John B. Begley Chapel.

But as Brumfield points out, the Begley Chapel "is more than a landmark."

"It's a living chapel," he said.

Lindsey Wilson's weekly chapel service is open to the general public as well as to the campus community.

"The doors are open to any and all," said Brumfield.

Lindsey Wilson School of Professional Studies Dean Curt Lee, who teaches several Christian ministries courses and helped shape the fall chapel schedule, said that the weekly event is also a celebration of the heritage of Lindsey Wilson, which was founded in 1903 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and today is affiliated with The United Methodist Church.

"As a Christian college, we want to have a place and time when people can come to hear God, talk to God and sing to God," said Lee. "I enjoy this weekly time when the campus community is invited to come together."

Aside from the Christmas chapel on Dec. 2, the other 10 chapel services will feature speakers who will explore what it means to be called, which is a theme in this year's campus ministry.

"We all have a purpose and a meaning in life," said Brumfield. "We are all called by God. Not only students but also faculty and staff. We want to examine what it means to be called at this place. We are called for a purpose and loved by a God who knows your name. People matter here and they are valued."
