Shelby County Resident Presents Paper at Lindsey Wilson College Academic Symposium

Columbia, KY (04/18/2025) — A Shelby County resident recently presented research at an academic symposium.
Morgan Bryant '26 of Shelbyville, Kentucky, presented her work at the 2025 Spring Symposium of the Lindsey Wilson College R.V. Bennett Honors Program. The symposium was held Thursday, April 17, at the college's Honors House.
Bryant, an English and history double major, presented "Aren't I a Woman Now?: Black Female Agency in the Reconstruction Era." Bryant's work examined the cultural, economic and political gains made by Black women during the Reconstruction Era. She worked on the project under the guidance of Lindsey Wilson Assistant Professor of History Lucas Somers.
The Lindsey Wilson R.V. Bennett Honors Program enriches students' education by providing challenging and engaging curricular and co-curricular experiences. It is a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council and the Kentucky Honors Roundtable, where Lindsey Wilson students regularly present their work.
